Passiflora edulis seed oil
The lightest oil in the range — which is why it is the only one that also belongs in a cleanser.
Passion fruit seed oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of Passiflora edulis, native to South America and chiefly Brazil. The seeds are a by-product of juice production, so unlike prickly pear there is no tension here between price and availability.
It is among the highest in linoleic acid of any commonly used plant oil. That makes it the lightest material in our range: it sinks in quickly, leaves a dry touch and forms no film you could feel.
That lightness decides where it can be used. Most rare oils belong in the final layer of a routine and have no business in a cleanser — they would either wash away or leave an unwanted residue. Passion fruit oil is different: in a cleansing emulsion it rounds out the conditioning phase so that no tightness is left behind, without behaving like something that needs removing.
A two-phase emulsion is a format built for exactly this. The oil and water phases are brought together by shaking before use, and during cleansing the work divides: the oil dissolves what is oily, the water phase carries the rest away. That is why it can afford to be gentle — it need not strip in order to clean.
In our range, passion fruit oil appears in two products at opposite ends of the ritual: the No1. Two Phase Cleanser and the No4. Daily Superfood Moisture Serum. In both it does the same job — keeping the texture light where a denser oil would be in the way.
